Hello, my name is Michael Pennell and Python in a Pear Tree is operated by myself with the help of my two beautiful daughters. I grew up with a fascination of animals of all kinds. But it wasn't until one day in 1994 that I was introduced to my friend's ball python and the obsession began. Within a week, I had bought my very first snake, a WC ball python from a jobber. By the next week, I had bought an albino California king snake. I learned very quickly from dealing with this ball python the need for captive bred animals. I started buying all kinds of books, subscribed to Reptiles magazine, and started attending reptile shows. I wanted to learn all that I could about these wonderful animals. Later, in 1998, I joined a local herp society and a few months later, my oldest daughter was born and at five days old, she attended her first herp club meeting. I later served as Treasurer and President of the East Texas Regional Herpetological Society.
In 2003, I filed for my DBA, and this hobby became a business.
We enjoy seeing the look on a new keeper's face when they acquire their first snake or 20th snake. Much like my oldest daughter, Michaela, when just shy of her 4th birthday, got her very first snake; a corn snake from Don Shores of Shores Enuff Snakes.
We focus mainly on carpet pythons, ball pythons, and a select group of others. I am also currently keeping a small collection of colubrids that is basically my daughters' interest.
So whether you are looking for your first snake or for a serious breeding project of high quality animals, feel free to get in touch with us.
Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the site!
